Parts of this brilliant release feature instrumental tracks that seem like parts to a score of an imaginary film. "Maryanne" has a chorus of acoustics playing a beautiful motif in such a bruising way, that it almost appears the song is about love and anger. "A new low in getting high" utilizes the classic BJM 'wall of soundī approach to great effect. Iīve fallen in love with this one, and although itīs far different, i place it up there with the classic "Give it back" release. Every song takes you somewhere.

More quiet then the records before, thought-provoking. Not a spectacular album, but a good one.

"Reign on" is spooky. Miranda Lee Richards is the perfect counterpoint to Anton. Her voice blends effortlessly with the BJM sound. There is some very cool stuff on this E.P. One of the great acoustic records of all time.

A fantastic, down-to-dirty-home acoustic session record. The title summarizes the album -- and does it its justice. Songs like "The Godspell According to Newcombe" and "The Way it Was" show gallant harmonica and acoustic Good-Timinī arousal, along with cleverly amusing and, I suppose, meaningful lyrics. Yay!

this record was recorded at the same time as "strung out in heaven" it is all acoustic.it features a great song by miranda lee richards. anton alfred newcombe

Most tracks on this records are a dominated by accoustic guitar. Rock ballades stuff so to say.

Once again, the Good-Timinī BJM acoustic-scruff noise. Love it. "Ballad Of Jim Jones" speaks. Anton, whenīs We Are Ther Radio due out?

This album took a while to grow on me, especially after listing to the other BJM records. The music has a folk groove to it. I love the acoustic sound and the lack of drums really gives it a unique vibe. Great work, what else would you expect? Great secret songs, I like this version of spun ALOT

I thought we were talking about "Give It Back." Not about Dig! Well I on the other hand thought this Album was amazing and was truely a work of art. I donīt think most of the world got the humor out of "Not If You Were The Last Dandy On Earth" as I did. I thought it was funny and catchy. One of my favorite albums.

This album inspired me to approach writing music in a completely different way. It is the perfect balance of all the elements that make the BJM so compelling. My favorite segment of "Dig!" is the recording of this album (check out the extended scene). Iīd say start with this CD or the brilliant ītepid peppermintī collection.

Wait, am I missing something here? Iīm pretty sure Dig! made Anton look like the huge jerk, but whatever. Anything thatīs filmed over seven years is going to be heavily edited anyway. Great album though.

Hey Matt Dude-- screw Sandra. Why on earth even listen to that nutjob. Thank goodness you held it together for Strung Out In Heaven. Some excellent music on your part. Maybe Sandra is the Reptile you sing about! Great song -- keep making that magical music bro.

I got this album from my birth day from my girl friend, and let me tell you, iv gotten expensive watches, dvds. skateboards and even goten laid, This album,.........i tell you this......is pretty darn close to getting laid. I must say i am impressed and i love the sitar parts, they add a great deal of texture.

And you sure are showing yourself to be a real sweetheart... Seriously, if you think you know the truth about anything from watching Dig! you're quite wrong. Itīs an entertaining movie, and Iīll admit to some pretty bad behaviour on my own part thatīs there for everyone to see in the film. But to think that you know the extent of my personality from watching some footage of me from almost ten years ago? Thatīs just completely illogical. Remember, you're the one going out of your way trying to hurt my feeling, and other peoples'. You rabidly defend Anton, but you insult his friends? What gives you that right? Who appointed you the expert on all things BJM, because for the life of me I canīt even figure out who you are.

Well thanks for proving my point Matt. You have made my life better by you moving to Portland and staying away from BJM. And you have the distinction of pissing people off so bad that even Dave took a swing at you in the Van. Hereīs knowledge, the whole world because of Dig! now knows you as the moaning, bitching, whining asshole that you are. You are much better suited to hanging around with that other band of ego inflated losers where you are. You ARE one of them.

Probably my favorite BJM record to date. The recording quality is luke-warm and just right -- not as crisp as Strung Out In Heaven or This Is Our Music, but not as scruffy as Take It From The Man. (The equivelence balances out perfectly.) "Last Dandy", "Super-Sonic", etc. all give off a brilliant sixties-cool, 90īs tech aroma ya gotta dig.

hey Matt, I love the new fucking record.

Dear Sandra, Okay, I know you're just begging for attention and I shouldnīt encourage you by giving it to you but I think itīs funny when people think they're experts on people they donīt even know. Have we even met? Were you there when the things you talk about happened? Funny, I donīt remember seeing you. I wonder what harm I did you that you think itīs a good thing for someone to inflict violence on me. Iīd certainly never wish that on you or intentionally hurt you in any way. If you think I talked down to you, I apologize. Sometimes we just donīt have it in us to be as polite to everyone as weīd like. I hope you can find some more deserving target for your anger. There are some truly evil people out there, surely more infuriating than a musician whoīs just trying to make your life better. If you donīt like my songs, you donīt have to listen, but please, donīt insult me, it just isnīt nice.

The Holy City a Psych record? Why cause it has some delay. Itīs junk.

Anton and Matt are actually good friends to this day. Get your facts straight. ps - Mattīs new band THE OUT CROWD just released one of the best neo-psychedellic records to date.

Not long after this Anton kicked the living shit out of Matt Hollywood for being the asshole he is. During a show Hollywood decided to get preachy to the crowd, Anton is into "More Rawking and less talking" Like most losers Hollywood thinks heīs a genius and talks down to people. Anton was having none of it that night. (See it all on DIG!) Hollywood is still talking down to people currently with his new band. Some girl he hired is the same way and getīs rock n roll rebellion confused with rudeness. Anton told her she was a legend in her own mind. Which again is entirely correct. Itīs a fact that individuals from backwater towns like Portland will try and overcompemsate and insult people because they know people donīt respect them because of where their from. Itīs good Hollywood was purged from BJM. Heīs still writing the same song over and over with his new band.Antonīs never really wrong.

this record is a combination of all of the things we do.itīs pretty good.peter from the b.r.m.c. plays guitar.miranda sings too!. enjoy, anton alfred newcombe

This is their Rolling Stones Now!

I had no clue this album was recorded live in the studio. Any ways i dont have this album, but i did hear the song on it take it from the man. Ummm no exageration, but this song is the bomb. The first time i heard it I didnt even know of the brian jones townmassacre, at that time all i knew was i wanted more of this band. Take it from the man the song ranks highly on my list of favorite songs. i dig the back up vocals and the vintage touch.

this one was recorded live in the studio.itīs most of our set at the time and some experiments.i like how raw this album is.ultimately, who knows how the bjm will be reguarded.i just write the songs man. anton alfred newcombe

Jump into this timemaschine and go back to the times of dope and glory. If I didnīt read it on the cover, I would think itīs from the 60s.

Theri Satanic...is one amazing album as a whole, though some of the Indian influenced sounds take some time to get used to. Anenome is probably one of my all-time favorite songs. Like a total stoner trip put to music..

i recorded this album at the same time as "take it from the man!".itīs more atmospheric, lotīs of textural stuff on it.itīs mostly just me,but matt hollywood contributed some great tracks too.it was out of print for a long time but in stock now at bomp.com i am very proud of this as a whole. anton alfred newcombe

Itīs clear Antonīs genius was in full flight, even on this very early recording. "Evergreen" is like My bloody valentine meets poetry. "Wisdom" remains one of my favorite BJM songs to this date. and "That girl suicide" could have been the greatest track to ever come out of the late sixties, had it existed at that time. I really love this album.

this was our second record.recorded at the same time and sessions for "spacegirl and other favorites".i was trying for something way beyond what this album turned into.at somepoint i just moved on and this collection was remixxed and sequenced by other people.iīm glad that it exsists and people can enjoy it. anton alfred newcombe

The sound is solid, dense, powerful. So the guitar can be lazy for a while every single note dances on the wave of sound. Some effects here and there, ready is the psychedelic post grunge record. Today itīs my favourite BJM.
