It´s just a beautiful, dreamy, meandering soundwave that can really make you happy! Not that it´s a "quiet" record, but as hard as the drummer beats his drums, the music is never aggressive. The length of the tracks spreads from 2 1/2 to 16 minutes, from nice psychpop to overflowing spacerock. Syd Barrett´s influence is not to be denied.

10 years after their debut with ´music for Astronauts', published by Music Maniac Records within the cult ´teen Trash´ series, The Strange Flowers from Pisa come back with this unexpected, yet remarkable 4-track EP entitled 'Across the River and through the trees', the first musical publication of the new Italian label 'Edizioni dei Corrieri Cosmici. The title track seems to be a ´start-back-from-where-we-left´ statement, as The Strange Flowers go back to the atmospheres of the psychedelic ballads of ´music for Astronauts'. Extremely melancholic and visionary, the song is a true trip across open spaces where sounds and words melt into a moody picture. The following two songs, a powerful cover of 13th Floor Elevator´s 'You're gonna miss me´ and the original, contaminated psycho-garage song 'You´ve been a queen', are a sort of tribute to the roots of psychedelic rock, but still sounds and atmospheres tend to be self-exploring and unquiet. The last song is a cover of Pink Floyd´s 'Green is the Color', in which, again, The Strange Flowers depict a decadent, moody environment. In a season in which psychedelic and garage rock are put aside, The Strange Flowers show that it is still possible to play inspired music and provide a source of inspiration to the listener
