My opinion: Not so strong as the two other albums, but worth hearing. alie

Ihr Label bezeichnet den Stil von Califone als Industrial Folk. Das macht durchaus Sinn, da es nichts mit Cowboy Romantik zu tun hat. Der Sound ist weit weg von üblichem Country, wenngleich Country die musikalische Basis bildet. Hervorstechend ist der instrumentelle Minimalismus, der durch die Intensität des Ausdrucks die Ohren weit öffnet - bis man jede Oberschwingung der Gitarrensaiten spüren kann. Dennoch kommt nie Langeweile auf, die mit raw feelings aufgeladene Atmosphäre der Songs läßt das nie zu. Zusammen mit Sin Ropas und Grandpa´s Ghost zur Zeit das beste aus diesem Genre der Psychedelic. alie
